I LOVE to teach. It never feels like a job to me, and instead of an uneasy or worried feeling in August... all I feel is excitement. I am part of an incredible school and community, but really it's ALL about the KIDS! When I see those little people walk through my door every morning, I am filled with wonder. It is such an incredible privilege to help them learn and grow every day. This past year, my class became a tight-knit community, and honestly we felt like a family by the end of the year.
I want to create a classroom as student centered as possible, because THEY are what this is all about. I strongly believe that student ownership and choice in their selection of a work space, materials and projects is crucial to creating an authentic learning environment. I have found that when students take ownership over their learning, their engagement, problem solving and productivity increases.
