Both STEM and reading foster the 6 Cs: Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Communication, Citizenship, and Character Education. My students are inquisitive and adventurous first graders who are in need of STEM toys and books in our classroom. These items will benefit every child in the classroom. Young children learn best through play. Implementing challenges for students to build and solve using the STEM toys allows me to incorporate science, math, and literacy together in a fun and creative way. Group challenges to create/design something such as a new bed for Goldilocks, allows the children to experience experimentation, problem solving, and critical thinking in a small group setting.
