These books will add to the collection of stories my class will explore both individually and as a class. While I am also trying to grow my classroom library of different books, used for independent reading or student book clubs, this specific project is for a class set of novels. The budget at our district is fairly tight, so a new set of novels will challenge middle school students to think about larger questions. "What happens when the truth is distorted?" is a central question students will be forced to consider as we read The Giver as a class. These students already have a huge interest in reading and the written word; these donations will only spur them on to continue reading and thinking deeply about the world around them.
