Four years ago I took this position with 15 students enrolled in the music program. Today we have over 300 students involved and have added a second teacher, and 6 more classes ranging from Beginning guitar to Advanced placement Music Theory. We currently have over 1900 students with 93% free and reduced lunch in an inner city high school. My students mainly come from very low income families. 80% of the students are learning English as a second language. My focus in music is to give each student the opportunity to explore music and link my curriculum to the core subjects such as math, literacy, history...
