This project will help students access the sensory input that they require throughout the day and will provide them with supplies that will allow them to be successful in school.
A trampoline and exercise ball will provide appropriate opportunities throughout the day for students to take breaks, release extra energy, and receive feedback from their environment so they can be more engaged/ready to learn! I’ve also asked for fluorescent light filters. Sometimes the lights in the classroom can overstimulate and bother my students, and this material helps create a calm and soothing atmosphere.
Some of the other materials like the toys listed below will encourage my students to engage and interact with their peers through natural play opportunities (something that can be difficult to initiate).
The puzzles and games listed below will help the students problem solve and learn to work together. Plus, they will be engaged visually and kinesthetically. There are some other additional supplies like crayons and glue that the students will use on an everyday basis to complete tasks. I’ve also included some storage and organizational materials like shelves so that the sensory materials, games, and puzzles included in this project can be neatly displayed in the classroom.
Any and all donations will help this new Autistic Support classroom run smoothly and successfully!
