Flexible seating options allow each student to choose the kind of seat that works best for their learning. During independent work time my students are encouraged to move around the room and find an area that works for them. They are currently able to use a standing table, the teacher's table, or use a clipboard while sitting on the floor. Giving students a choice of where and how to work encourages them to think about their own learning style and to find a place that fits their needs. Some students prefer to sit on stools instead of traditional chairs. Allowing students to make a simple choice like this empowers them and helps they be more involved in the classroom. Some students need stools specifically designed to move with them, like the Active Learning Chairs. These stools also help students remain safe because they do not fall over! Other tools, like the stability cushions and chair bands, let students who need to do two things at once balance or bounce while they learn. Floor desks give students the opportunity to move to a spot in the room to work as a team or just get some quiet! By choosing where to sit, my students are more engaged and less disruptive of their peers. They learn to make positive choices and to advocate for themselves and their needs. The products I have selected will help my students learn by allowing them freedom of choice and the ability to move around when needed. I have seen the positive impact that choice has on my students and need your help to continue adding seating options that fit all needs.
