In order to level the playing field, my students need access to quality technology tools and need the ability to log on daily. Unfortunately, the technology at our school is stretched thin; most of the laptops and desktops do not work and the ones that do are used primarily for testing across all the grades. These eleven Chromebooks would ensure my students receive daily access to technology programs like Dreambox and Lexia. During small groups, the technology will be a center where my students can utilize these Chromebooks and access amazing blended learning programs that our school has already purchased but does not have enough available tech/computers for students to actually implement. Additionally, our school has led a variety of community projects including a Peace Rally, and an upcoming Southeast block party. These Chromebooks can also be used to help students organize and plan these community events. A full class-set of Chromebooks would elevate my use of the laptops. Instead of primarily using them during centers, I could also use them for project-based learning - expanding a research component of my instruction. The Chromebooks could also be used during after-school tutoring.
