The students that I teach are curious, and highly motivated learners. My Pre-K-5th grade, general and special education learners love to learn when they are participating in real world experiences that help to satisfy their natural curiosity. These real world, hands-on experiences allow my students to produce work that is meaning for them. Students who understand that math and science have benefits outside of school are more engaged. Our school believes that our population of students learn in diverse ways. Some students make the science connection by reading books, while others love to get up and do something. When paired with content learned in the classroom, the collection of real data, experienced first-hand, is what will satisfy the thirst of all learners. I have requested a new science weather station will allow for the connection of real live data to classroom concepts.
