My students come from all over Baltimore City and attend a public high school, and almost all students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our school focuses on preparing students to enter the medical field and they have ambitious goals for their futures. They are bright and eager to learn - some take as many as 3 buses and travel over an hour to get to school every single day. My 9th graders are at a crucial age in which they face pressures from the city they live in, their home lives, and their school. It is so important for them to obtain a valuable education today so they can one day go on to college (and maybe medical school!) to make their dreams a reality.
