My school is located in Newark, NJ and serves primarily children from low income families. About 98% of our students are black and latino. Although I think these statistics are important, they are no more important than what my scholars bring to the classroom every single day. What my students bring is grit, independence, joy, intelligence, pride and love. My students are incredible, resilient, inquisitive and motivated to learn like no other students I have met before. Not only do our students love to learn, but they love to support one another and grow as a team. Our classroom values are: -Think and Inquire -Honor Yourself and Others -Reach for Excellence -Imagine and Innovate -Voice your Truth -Engage with the World Our scholars act out these values every day. From finding new and innovative ways to solve problems to working as a team and family to grow our brains as much as possible.
