Students will be using these Chromebooks to conduct virtual lessons and simulations related to math concepts. Many of the concepts we cover in eighth grade math requires a significant understanding in multiple topics that the students find to be less complicated when it is presented in diverse ways. Websites like Khan Academy and Gizmos can help students be more involved in their learning. Thus allowing them to manipulate and explore concepts to a greater extent. As William Paul Thurston said, "Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about understanding!" All of my students, from the struggling mathematicians to math brainiacs, can benefit from this project! The use of technology increases student engagement and motivation to be more involved with the content for my diverse learners. With the growing base of social media and technological advancement students need to learn how to appropriately engage themselves in their learning while on the internet. By utilizing these laptops in the classroom my students will become their own advocates of their learning and fueling their growth.
