On May 1st, my 280 seniors will commit to their post-secondary plan whether that be a 2 or 4-year college, a job, or a branch in the military. The wooden boards will be used as a way for students to remember their hard work over the course of their senior year. From submitting the Residency Determination Service to prove in-state tuition to completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, they have continuously worked hard all year to figure out what their plans are after high school. As Nelson Mandala said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Most of my seniors are from a low-income, first- generation background, so their next step in life is detrimental to not only them but their family as well. I want to use these supplies to celebrate THEM this one day.
