Having the hard copies available will make reading more valuable for my students. They will be able to step away from the digital 21st century and read a physical book. There will be no worries of dead computers because all they will need to do is open their books. The bookshelves will give me the ability to store the books correctly; instead of storing them in crates. I've chosen Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter because of one of the obvious themes - Identity and Society. The younger generation deals with this on a day-to-day basis. I've chosen Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest because it deals with Instructional Control vs. Human Dignity and Social Pressure and Shame.
