I have a group of budding photographers that are involved in a program that combines literacy and photography. The students meet once a week to learn about photography, take photographs, and write. The students' work and writing will be professionally mounted and shown in an art gallery, and the work will be on public display. While we have a large format printer on campus, we do not have the funds to purchase the paper and ink for the printer. Not only would the supplies, ink and paper, be used for this particular gallery exhibit, but the students have expressed interest in putting together their own exhibits to show at school. I have been throughly impressed with the work that the students have done. They have learned about photo composition rules, self-portraiture, and abstract ideas, and they have created to some amazing photographs to use for their gallery exhibit.
