The opportunity to give my new students a classroom environment that makes them feel comfortable, welcomed, and heard as young adults is my number one priority. Giving them a room that is bright and colorful and different options for seating, gives them a sense of individuality and sense of ownership on where they can sit; rather than just in a desk. I think it's just important to remember that teachers and students are human beings and schools are where they all spend a large chunk of their young lives; having it be a place that is comfortable and a place they may actually want to be, is important. Students are human beings first and foremost and looking after there human needs before their school needs is essential. That's why getting colorful rugs, colorful paper, tables, chairs, desk, couches, balls, etc for the kids to move around on, is helpful for growth not only physically, but mentally and academically.
