Each day during centers, my students have time to read independently. Our classroom library is in desperate need of more books in the lower levels so that my students can build their fluency and confidence. Many of my students do not have books at home or parents who are able to support their literacy needs. My hope for my students is that each and every one of them leaves first grade as a confident reader who loves books! In order to accomplish this lofty task, I need to be able to offer them a variety of fun and interesting books that are on their reading level. Most of my students start first grade reading on levels A, B, or C. By the end of first grade, they need to be reading on level J or higher. I am requesting books in levels A-J to add to our classroom library.
