My goal is to have students participating in all planting, tending and harvesting the plants. Students will be responsible for planning the layout of the garden. They will need to apply literacy and math skills for the design. They will also use literacy skills to collect data and create observation journals to document progress of the garden. It has been my experience that students accept responsibility and take ownership when the are given the opportunity to care for living things. Soil products will allow us to increase the number of beds we can create. Extra tools will allow us to have more students share responsibilities. The netting will allow us to extend our growing season into the colder months.
