My students are English language learners in a public school in Yonkers, NY. They are in grades 7 -12, and are at various stages of English language proficiency. The ELLs are constantly at a disadvantage in their content-area classrooms because they lack the vocabulary. Most of these students are recent immigrants to the United States, and come from homes whose parents have limited education and financial hardships; therefore, do not expose their children to the enriching experiences of their American classmates. In my class, ELLs learn the language they need to be successful both in and out of the classroom and school environment. Thank you so much for visiting my classroom page and helping my students!!
