Dress up can be an effective tool for students during dramatic play. For my younger students just putting on the clothes can be good practice for some fine motor skills (buttoning, zipping, snapping, etc) as well as self-help skills (dressing and undressing independently). My students learn pretend play skills through dramatic play and can grow their peer relationships if they choose to play together. Many of my students are working on building social-emotional skills - these skills can be increased by dress up and dramatic play. My students love exploring our kitchen area and having the Chef Dress Up Clothes will allow them to explore that area even further by pretending to be chefs. The different dress up options also correlate and build upon units we discuss in my classroom. Having the opportunity to dress up can give students better insight on the topics we are learning about. When we talk about community helpers the Melissa & Doug Veterinarian Role Play Costume Set, and iLearn Construction Worker Costume Role Play Kit Set will allow them to take the information they learned and apply it in their dramatic play time.
