All students need access to high interest books from a diversity of writers about all kinds of experiences. This project hopes to bring that experience to my students while also promoting community reading with book clubs to help foster student discussion and empathy with some hard subjects and themes. These books, and multiple copies of some of them, will help my students to access a wide variety of stories that can help to open up their worlds while also giving them access to stories with characters that look like them and reflect the issues and concerns that they are grappling with.
