Our school is a rural public school located on the slopes of an extinct volcano on an island in the Hawaiian chain. The students I work with are from the second and third grade. My students come from diverse households and have a range of abilities. All have special needs and all enjoy learning. One of their favorite activities is using the computer to practice language arts and math skills. They think they are playing games but really they are learning. I would also like them to learn to enjoy boards games that are interactive and encourage social interaction and turn taking as well as build academic skills.
