At SCA, students prepare for college and beyond by working in a high-density, rigorous curriculum that incorporates life skills along with their academics. Because of the current physical situation, sixth grade is currently the only grade without access to classroom technology, hindering our abilities as educators to prepare them for future grade levels. Students need access to these 22 tablets for research skills, technology literacy, and supplemental resources to existing curriculum. With these tablets, we could create enriching projects for Science, Social Studies, and English that incorporate information taken from beyond the textbooks. In addition, students also need to practice internet and technology literacy skills for success in future grade levels, and as it stands, they have little opportunity to exercise these skills within the regular classroom. Finally, new math curriculum was recently purchased with a wealth of effective internet supplemental resources, and these devices would allow us to show students how to use these resources effectively and provide opportunities for both struggling and high level learners.
