I teach seventh grade science in Texas. My students come from various diverse cultures.. Our school district encompasses 44 square miles, and its families represent the nation's economic spectrum from privilege to poverty. 55 % of my students are considered impoverished and 70% are eligible for free or reduced meals. Many residents have lived here all their lives, while others are new to the area.
