As the Gifted and Talented teacher, I have the responsibility to teach higher order thinking to students in grades K-5. These students are the curious ones, the highly motivated, creative bunch. They seek out new ideas and build upon them. The gifted students are leaders of the school. They are the role models for other students in their general ed classroom. In my school, majority of the students come from economically disadvantaged households. My school is filled with diverse learns from multicultural backgrounds. The opportunity to support gifted learners can be limited because of this dynamic and the focus is usually for students that need more support.
