I teach Kindergarten in the heart of the Excelsior District in San Francisco, CA. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. My school is a Title I school and participates in the free reduced breakfast and lunch program. The majority of them are English Language Learners, speaking languages such as Russian, French, Tagalog, Spanish, and Cantonese. Most of my students' first experience in school is when they come into my class excited to learn. There is never a dull moment when you enter my classroom. My students are very energetic and happy to be at school. They come into the classroom everyday focused and thrilled to be with their classmates. We developed a tight-knit classroom community where we help and learn from each other. My students and I know our classroom as our "second home away from home" and that we are an addition to each other's family.
