This project is for a class set of tap shoes that all dance students can benefit from. For those unfamiliar with tap shoes, there is a metal piece on the toe and the heel that are used to create certain sounds and rhythms. Currently our dance class students have to wear their tennis shoes during the tap unit. Without actual tap shoes, the students don't learn the proper technique and lose interest in a genre of dance that is extremely culturally relevant. With a class set of tap shoes, our students would improve skills such as rhythm, timing, syncopation, spacial awareness, and coordination. All of these skills can be related to other subjects and real life situations.
