Some of my students are still looking for their "just right book". I work with a close knit, small group, of middle school, special education students at a K-8 school that serves three different communities. The school's mission is to prove that poverty isn't a barrier to achievement. Each one of my students wants to become a stronger student and works hard every day to do so. However, one large obstacle that we are faced with is our lack of lower level, high interest texts in our library. These middle schoolers want to read interesting books independently. However, often times the books they are interested in are far above their reading level and books at their reading level are often written for first or second graders.
