I am a teacher at Forest Park High School in Baltimore, MD. This year I have the pleasure of educating 125 students in our geometry course. My students have quickly become some of the greatest people I know in my life. As we struggle each day in learning new material and being challenged in our ways of thinking about math, a day does not go by where I laugh and smile with my students. In our class, our vision is B.E.A.S.T. We define this as "Believe in Excellence and Speak Truth". For many people, math does not come naturally, or it may not be a favorite subject. However, each day when we come to class, we want to challenge ourselves to believe in the excellence we can achieve as mathematicians. We also want to speak our truth. As a teacher, this means to admit when I am wrong or have messed up. For my students, it means mistakes are accepted and we should not be afraid to ask questions!
