My 5-6 year old students are being asked to do so much more than students their age, 20 years ago. Our district went from half day Kindergarten to full day Kindergarten, yet the attention span of 5-6 year olds has not grown. My students are capable of great things. The district provides standard seating for students, however my students need other options to facilitate their learning. The important thing is the quality and meaningfulness of the work, not what the work is done on. By having soft seats for my students they can sit or kneel with them at a lowered table. The Comfy Seats and Bean Bags can be moved around so students can sit comfortably in an area of the classroom in which they can better focus. These items would be game changers in my classroom and would improve their attention span and impulse control.
