These materials will help to get students up and out of our traditional seats into a more flexible seating arrangement! 21st Century student goals state that students need to be able to Collaborate, Create, Communicate and show Critical Thinking. The items listed will allow us to engage closely with one another (collaborate) as we spread out across the room. Students will enjoy being able to use the 4-floor seats in our wonder center. The chairs will serve as a vital part in encouraging students to communicate with one another. This center is a station set up for students to explore different classroom wonders. Also in this station, they will have a rug, a whiteboard wall, books, and two computers to really involve themselves in their learning. This is a time where they can communicate with one another to help the class figure out the answer to our weekly wonder. The classroom carpet squares will be used by students during Morning Meetings. Morning Meeting is a time where we get to come together as a class, set goals, reflect and challenge each other in the classroom. Because our classroom rug isn't big enough for all of our classmates, this will allow us to add the space we need to establish classroom culture.
