The students in my band program are among the most hardworking and dedicated students in the school. Spending hours working before and after school every week to go above and beyond to reach goals, they are the first to offer help to anyone who needs it. At any moment, one could walk in our band hall and see band students hard at work. Working to set up for the day, or voluntarily staying after school to help a friend learn their part or study for a test for another class. My band kids truly have a family and community mindset. Though money is tight at home for my students, they do the best with what they are given and use their motivation to rise above their circumstances. Even though mom and dad can't always make it to see their concerts, and work schedules and transportation are difficult, my kids don't let that stop them from working hard every day. These students deserve the best life has to offer them.
