The benefits my students will have from iPads in our classroom are endless. I teach Math and Science Curriculum in third grade. In math, students can utilize the iPads during math groups to practice skills such as multiplication, telling time, and counting money using educational apps. The iPads can be used for additional leveled skill practice, instead of wasting paper for worksheets. During science, my students can access the Internet to complete research projects, such as Extreme Weather, while working in small groups. Students can use the camera to take pictures of seeds that they plant in order to monitor growth over time.
Our Standardized State Tests have also changed to include more technology, especially in math and science. My students currently receive instruction using textbooks and worksheets. However, our students still must complete assessments using computers. It would be extremely beneficial to have the students incorporating technology into our daily instruction.
Their minds are open and ready to take on the world. They are eager and ready to use the technology. For some of my students, our classroom may be their only access to this forefront of learning. I know they would appreciate the opportunity to advance their knowledge from the comfort of our classroom at the touch of their fingertips!
