Currently, my students are learning rhythm and music without any instrument. I printed paper pianos so they learn basics of keyboard instrument, and we clap the rhythm and sing songs in class. But they are asking for instruments to put hands on and have active learning all kinds of music.
My class allow students to be in a safe, stress free environment where they learn more about the one thing they love the most; MUSIC!
We do use a wall piano that is in the cafeteria, I move the piano every day around my 4 different classrooms. By having these instruments students are going to be able to create and perform songs and rhythm patterns.
In my wish (most needed) instruments are the following:
- Bamboo Rhythm instruments for 25 players: Each class I teach has from 25-31 students. Currently our kids are just clapping the rhythms or tapping the tables. Sometimes this can be a little disengaging and by adding these new instruments (that students has been asking for). They will be learning how to take care of them, and explore different possibilities rhythmically.
- 48Pcs. Egg Maracas: In my class students tend to tap the beat with their feet, these maracas will help them maintain a steady beat, also to make each hand independent when playing two voices patterns.
- 20 note handbell set: By introducing bells my kids are going to learn how to collaborate and how every note is important in creating song. We plan to play handbells in our concert at the end of the year.
- Boomwhackers: at the end, music is fun, and it should be fun! Boomwhackers will allow my students to learn about chord structure and note memorization.
