The students rotate through 4 literacy centers everyday. Those 4 centers being Words Their Way, Readers Workshop, Word Work, and Partner reading. The children spend 20 minutes at each center before moving on to the next center. They work on alphabet, sounds, sight words and many more literacy activities. This listening center will allow my students to see the words on the page, hear the words on the page and read the words on the page everyday for 20 minutes during our Literacy Block center rotations. Students can listen to rich literature while still learning the rules and patterns of the written language. They can hear what good readers sound like, and they can begin to start reading simple sight words.
