Our school has recently adopted the Lucy Caulkin's Writing Workshop curriculum. As part of the direct instruction, students gather in a specific area within the classroom to learn and practice new writing strategies. Giving students a comfortable area to sit, will aid them in focusing on developing their thoughts and ideas to share with their peers. As an educator, it is important to provide my students with a supportive learning environment. Having a gathering area, with a rug, will create a comfortable, welcoming, and warm area for my students to learn, develop and share topics of importance to their lives.
