Our school rotates themes for March is Reading Month. This school year our theme is Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. I love this theme because I have found that many students are not as familiar with nursery rhymes and fairy tales as they used to be when I was growing up. Also, nursery rhymes are great for working on important literacy skills such as rhyming. We plan to use all of the materials we are asking for in our classroom during table centers, small groups, quiet reading time, and choice time. The tents will be used for the students to have a quiet place to read. The puzzles, games, and flannel story pieces will be used during our table centers, small groups, and choice time. We also use the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears for practice with retelling a familiar fiction story.
