Books allow children to escape reality, and they take them to places that may only exist in their dreams. Sadly, some students will not have opportunities to explore the world beyond our classroom and community, but these books can help them understand and revisit the tales and facts that inspire them.These books will allow my students to have tangible copies of literature that we often rely on technology or neighboring classrooms and local libraries to access. Multiple exposures to familiar books in a classroom increases students' abilities to retell stories, identify familiar words and phrases within a text, and develop opinionated or factual responses in academic and social contexts. These additions to our classroom library will not only help us to meet our academic standards, but they will also be used to teach students how to regulate their emotions, interact with their peers, and become strong citizens as they learn and grow throughout Kindergarten.
