The items in this project will help spark curiosity, and allow my busy second graders to stay focused and on task! Sensory toys are items that provide the particular sensory input that many children crave. Whether it is visual or tactile, the toys have the power to capture kids' attention. These items will help improve concentration and attention to task by allowing the brain to filter out the extra sensory information (e.g. listening to a lesson in the classroom, paying attention to a book during circle time). As for the Magna-Tiles and other building toys... learning seems effortless when it's fun and colorful! The options I have included in this project provide every tool a child needs to safely construct 2D & 3D creations while developing intellectually, laying the foundation for a bright future.
