With increased classes sizes, and a wide range of learning capabilities and readiness levels in a secondary English Language Arts classroom, it becomes difficult for students to receive the individualized attention needed to truly learn and develop at their own pace. With the purchase of new, flexible seating options, students will gain a unique opportunity to either dive deeper into the concepts being taught, or receive vital small group instruction geared toward acquiring a better level of understanding, seeking clarity, and closing gaps of misconceptions. The purchase of additional chairs, tables and stools, will also enable me to create an alternative learning environment for my students through the implementation of learning stations and writing workshops. Students will be able to apply their developing critical thinking skills and refine their writing skills by actively participating in learning stations and writing workshops activities.
