Many of my students have lost their passion for reading--they read (sometimes), but there's no fire and desire for more. I know that desire is in there and I want to bring it out again. I want to give them choice! So often, kids are told what to read, when to read, and how to read. For this project, the kids will run their own groups. I will supervise, of course, but they will get to select their books, who they read with, create a schedule and decide what topics they want to discuss. I'm hoping that by offering a variety of books, there will be something for everyone and it will start them on a path to reading even more.
