These magazines are high interest and will create student buy in to the text, whereas I can build reading skills for them to use to feel successful. In addition the online component would allow me to differentiate with small groups. In addition I can vary reading levels but yet still be discussing the same topic. The high interest and real life magazines are a great way for a struggling reader to build stamina, and an interest in reading while working on the skills they need to improve their reading level. Students who struggle with reading need texts that excite them to create buy in and then using that text to foster reading skills to make them successful and witness the growth of these students is truly something special.
