"To learn to read is to light a fire; every syllable that is spelled out is a spark." Victor Hugo, Les Miserable-~~~ Our school is a low-social economic school which consists of approximately 1,500 students, grades k-3. We only have classroom assistants in the kindergarten classrooms, which can make teaching without an assistant very hard. Within my class, I have students who read at different levels and have different learning styles. Community of Learners: My classroom is a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all of my students. Balanced Literacy Program: Children in my classroom participate in a variety of activities to improve literacy skills. Students participate in whole group as well as differentiated literacy instruction through small groups and centers.
