I would love for my students to have the opportunity to start their school days engaging with each other in meaningful activities as they create, imagine, and build with STEM bins. Students trickle in my classroom at various times throughout the morning, and STEM bins would be an ideal meaningful activity for them to work on as they arrive. Children naturally enjoy building, creating, and finding patterns. I have found that anytime I pass out manipulatives such as linking cubes, their little hands naturally begin to build and create patterns.
STEM bins are an ideal way to wake up little learners as they enter our classroom each morning. Not only would they be encouraged to innovate and problem solve together, but this time working together would also build invaluable classroom community with their peers. STEM bins could also be used for early finishers and as motivation to complete assignments.
These materials would be sure to benefit young learners for many years to come in my classroom.
