I am looking for tools to promote a flexible seating classroom. Little bodies are meant to move. Kids ask all the time for tools that help them to move. Sadly, there just isn't enough to go around. Sitting throughout the day is hard for adults, much less six year olds. With the increasing number of ADHD/ADD kids and special needs students in my room, I am looking for tools to help them be more successful in the classroom. They need to get up and move! Creating a successful environment for them to focus will promote their educational learning. "Immediate benefits of flexible seating include burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture." To better promote this type of learning, I am looking to add more stability balls, wiggle cushions, wobble stools, resistance bands and more. Each one provides it's own unique properties to help kids. From those needing to be in constant motion to those trying not to be noticed. For example, stools provide great support for the child who often needs to stand or take trips around the room to be able to 'sit' at a desk and attain to the task at hand like their peers. I like to tie the resistance bands around the bottom of the chair for kids to stretch with their feet. It provides some pressure and relief to sensory kids without anyone accidentally kicking their neighbor. There is no one set kid therefore there is no one set type of tool to help a class full of fun, unique kids. Thank you in advance for your support!
