STEM learning helps teach students flexible thinking, cooperation, problem solving and that it is okay to make mistakes. Logic and problem solving puzzles are a great way to engage young learners as they try out these new skills. The company SmartGames has made STEM games for all age levels and differentiates even more by having beginner to challenge cards in each game. I've selected games at different age levels so that all the learners in my classroom will have an opportunity to play and feel successful. The logic and problem solving puzzles will provide hands on opportunities to plan, try, fix while having a fun game experience. SmartGames Three Little Piggies and Smart Games Little Red Riding Hood fit in with our literacy unit on retelling. In Smart Games Temple Connection and ThinkFun Rollercoaster Challenge students will improve cognitive skills like planning, reasoning and spacial awareness. The magnetic tiles are a STEM activity where students can build and create shapes. These are open ended and allow for students creativity. The students will have opportunities during math rotation everyday to explore these games. The materials and activities provided in this project will allow for more successful learning experiences by providing my students with the meaningful and stimulating interactions they need during their critical stages development. I thank you in advance for your support of my first grade classroom and our young learners.
