My campus and classes consist of about 65% of students who are economically disadvantaged. Many are reading below grade level and have no access to books at home and their parents/guardians do not have the time/resources to read to them. Since over half of the population at my school is economically disadvantaged, most of these students come to Kinder, First, or Second grade each year with very little exposure to books or reading. I'd love to reading materials at their fingertips to grow great readers! They are so excited when they achieve success on their level.
