My new school has a very welcoming environment, but as of right now my classroom does not feel that way. Currently, if you walked into my classroom you would see tables and chairs. That's basically it.
Looking at my library, all you see is books. My students would love a welcoming place to gather and explore literacy and engage in conversations with other readers independently.
The beautiful classroom carpet would be used as a place for us to meet as a group for read alouds and discussing stories.
The headphones would be used so students can listen to stories and educational activities independently during small group reading and math rotations. The stools will be used at my small group reading table.
Many people do not realize that teachers are only given tables and chairs and that all furniture and fixtures not purchased by our own money must stay at the school we left. My new classroom has just that. I have picked out the essentials; now all I have to do is raise the money. Funding this project would help me create a fun, engaging environment that will facilitate my students' passion for reading the moment they walk into my classroom. I would love to have these items at orientation to help my classroom feel more welcoming. My students come to me knowing a few letters and sounds, but they do leave me reading. That is a wonderful feeling! Thank you so much for anything you can contribute. My future students and I appreciate it more than you know!
