Flexible seating has some many benefits. When students are given a simple choice of where they sit and with whom, they are more invested in their learning. Students need to move. When we prevent this, they become distracted or disruptive. When students have a choice of seating, they can collaborate and work together with others and feel like a community. We are requesting cushions, bean bag chairs, storage baskets and other items. Comfortable students are calm students, calm students are focused and productive! When students are not comfortable they fidget and become easily distracted or distracting. It is proven that when it is comfortable, you learn best. Why would we not want to give that to each and every one of our students?
