My students attend a school in which 97.1% of its students come from socioeconomic disadvantaged homes and 93.7% of students are on free or reduced lunch. 50% of the school's students are English Language Learners which makes learning new concepts and skills hard for students. Many of my students are not prepared for third grade when they enter my classroom at the beginning of the school year and have a hard time keeping up with new material that is being taught. Although my students come from disadvantaged homes, they are eager to learn and want to do their best. They become extremely excited when they have any opportunity to work on the school computers, listening centers, and are always willing to try something new, especially when they discover that it will help improve their learning.
