I focus on collaboration in my classroom. I give students the opportunity to work together with a variety of different partners. They also work best when they have the freedom to move, sit, stand or lay on their bellies. Every student has a different way to focus. Flexible seating allows students to find places that they work best. They can move their bodies while still focusing on the task they are doing. Choosing a new seat every day will allow students to try new things and collaborate with different kids. Teaching them how to communicate and collaborate with different peers will give them important life skills as they get older.
